1. FEATURE ARTICLE-"TAKING
MY OWN ADVICE"
Recently, I completed my new website which includes my vision, mission, and purpose statements. When creating these
statements, I thought of how I wanted to help others and why I created Quick Keys(TM).
I also decided that I needed to create the lifestyle I desired before I could help
others do the same. I have been advising others to utilize the services of a Virtual
Assistant for a long time - it was time I took my own advice...
In designing my "perfect" lifestyle, I realized that I needed to bring
someone in to assist me with Quick Keys(TM). One of my clients called with a huge
list of phone calls to be made - a request that came at a particularly busy time for me.
Not wanting to disappoint my client and knowing these calls needed to be made
quickly, I turned to my local support group for help. I was referred to Kim Florio,
a lady who was looking to do some work part-time. I called Kim and discussed with
her exactly what I needed, and she agreed to help me out. I was very lucky to find
someone so quickly with whom I was compatible. After working with her on the phone
calls and further discussing the business of Virtual Assisting, I decided to hire her as a
subcontractor to Quick Keys(TM).
Unfortunately, it is not always that easy to find the perfect Virtual Assistant.
Hiring an individual that will partner with you and positively represent your business is
a very important task. This newsletter will give some helpful hints in the hiring
process.
2. VIRTUAL VALUE
"How To Hire a Virtual Assistant"
Everyone has their own process of interviewing and selecting employees. Here are a
few pointers in selecting the perfect Virtual Assistant:
- Choose a minimum of three VAs to speak with
- Speak on the telephone with potential VAs - learn about their services,
hours, availability, fees, etc...
- Request references or testimonials
- Review their website (if they have one)
- Consider your needs and make sure the VA offers services to fill those
needs
- Make sure the VA you choose shares in your mission
- Select a VA that you feel comfortable with - someone you feel will
positively represent your business
3. Q&A FOR THE VA
Q/ What are the benefits of
hiring a Virtual Assistant vs. a local Secretary or Administrative Assistant?
A/ There are certainly benefits
to hiring a local assistant; however here are some of the benefits to hiring a Virtual
Assistant:
- When looking for a Virtual Assistant, you can look nationwide, you are
not limited to your local job pool
- Most Virtual Assistants are hired as subcontractors offering you many
savings:
* You don't pay employee taxes or benefits.
* There's no need to purchase expensive equipment (color printers - scanners, etc)
or office space.
* You get greater productivity than an "in office" assistant - you only
pay for the time spent tocomplete a specific project.
* Your valuable time is better spent concentrating on the issues only you can
handle.
